We know there are times that we all need assistance.  No one knows everything about everything.  We have to get the job done anyway.  We have links to various websites below.  Some are our comments, many will take you to other sites with useful information.  ENJOY!

HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT BLEEDS IN PRINTING
Bleeds in printing cause many problems for novice designers of printed materials, from booklets to flyers and even business cards.
Let's take a look at a full bleed document being designed.
PRINT BASICS,  printers do not print to the edge of the sheet.  If a document requires printing to the edge, the sheet must be larger than the document to allow an area to be trimmed after printing, then you have a full bleed sheet.
1. We are designing an 8.5 X 11 inch finished page.
2. Our set up sheet is 9 X 11.5 inches, that a allows .25 inch
border around the 8.5 X 11 document. This is our bleed area.
3. After we print the
document, we will have sheet that will be white around the outer edge.  The black box will be our trim lines yielding an 8.5 x 11 inch sheet.  somewhere in the .25 inch edge there will be no ink or toner.

PORTRAIT  or  LANDSCAPE in document design
Is the sheet 8.5 x 11, or 11 x 8.5 inches?  Is it 11 x 17, or 17 x 11 inches?  When you buy paper it is 8.5 x 11, or 11 x 17 inches.  When you send  a document to the printer that changes, and it is a big deal.  11 x 17 is a portrait document.  17 x 11 is a landscape document.  When designing any document the key is the first dimension is the width of the document, the second dimension is the height.

DOOR HANGER OR RACK CARD
At times we receive a project to print a door hanger only to open the file and discover a rack card.
The card on the left is a rack card, the one on the right is a door hanger.  The door  hanger requires enough blank space above the design for the round hole.
Most often this is a misunderstanding between the designer and the customer.
At times, if it is a rush job, we can alter the design.  It is better to go back to the designer for the necessary correction.
